From the Sta Lucia railway station the direction is Campo San Polo, one of the largest in Venice. Did you know that the squares in Venice are calle "fields" ? and are so called because they were cultivated during the Serenissima. Very beautiful is the church of San Polo that collects works by some of the most important painters of the "Venetian School", continue to the Campo dei Frari and its majestic church of the 1300 cent. To visit! Following the church you are in Campo S.Rocco, where there is the school of S.Rocco, where inside you will find a rich collection of paintings by Tintoretto, a well-known Venetian painter. Now towards Campo Sta Margherita, full of small taverns and cafes, in fact this is the place of students' nightlife. Next step is the famous Bridge of fists , where above you will find 4 footsteps, from here the games between districts teams started. Campo S.Barnaba follows and reach the Zattere, where you can enjoy a suggestive walk along the Giudecca canal, we suggest to taste the gianduiotto icescream at Bar "Da Nico", one of the best ice creams in the city. In front of Zattere you can see the Giudecca island. The walk takes you to the Punta della Dogana, where there is the beautiful Basilica S. Maria della Salute, a Baroque masterpiece, built in 1631, an ex voto of the Venetians, to thank the Madonna for the liberation of the plague.
In the square is also the famous contemporary art museum of Punta della Dogana,
in where you can admire the contemporary collections by Francois Pinault.
From here you can return by boat stop and travel along the Grand Canal.
